If your place of residence changes within the Netherlands, you need to inform your local municipality.

When you move to a new address in the Netherlands, you are required to inform the municipality (gemeente) of your change of address within 5 days of moving. Your new municipality will update your address in the Personal Records Database (BRP). It is important that you notify your municipality about your move because if you don’t do this, you might be fined. Also, if your address is registered incorrectly, it could affect your social benefits and taxes.

If you are moving to a different municipality, you are not required to inform your old municipality. Once you register at your new municipality, they will inform your old one for you.
