Municipal Elections 2022
The Municipal Council (Gemeenteraadsverkiezing) elections take place once every 4 years. The next election will be on the 14th, 15th and 16th of March 2022.
Who can vote?
If you live in the Netherlands but do not have Dutch nationality, you might still be entitled to cast your vote in the upcoming Municipal Council elections.
The requirements for the Municipal elections are as follows:

You are 18 years of age or over

You are not barred from voting in your home country or in the Netherlands

You are a resident of a Dutch municipality on nomination day

You are a citizen of the European Union or;

You are a non-EU citizen who has been living in the Netherlands for at least 5 years, and you are in possession of a valid residence permit

How to vote
To vote you must visit one of the many polling stations. For a map of all the polling stations in Leiden, click here.
You must bring the following with you:
- Valid identification (passport or ID);
- Your stempas (voting pass). The latest delivery date of the stempas is March 2nd. Check with your municipality if you did not receive one by then.

Voting aid available in English for internationals
There is a voting aid available in English for internationals living in Leiden. The aid helps you discover which parties suit you best. First you complete a list of statements, then the aid tells you which parties are most compatible with your opinions.
