Leiden is looking for a new mayor. Care to think along?
The city council is devising a character sketch for our new mayor. Care to think along? Up until December 10, you can answer a few questions on mijnburgemeesterleiden.nl. The questionnaire has been developed by the research firm Citisens. Filling in the questionnaire takes 3 minutes and participation is completely anonymous. The questionnaire is available in both Dutch and English.
The mayor is leaving. What happens next?
When the mayor departs, a new vacancy arises, and the search for a new mayor begins. The municipal council plays a crucial role in this process, working closely with the Commissioner of the King. The council has appointed a confidential committee for this process, the 'Vertrouwenscommissie'.
Background information
A mayor is appointed by the Crown. The Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations and the province of South Holland have prepared a number of manuals explaining the procedure for appointing a mayor.
