Exchange your British Driving Licence
Assuming that you, as a British national, have already arranged your Dutch residence permit (to continue) to live, work or study in the Netherlands, we would like to remind you about your driving licence.
As a British national you must exchange your UK driving licence for a Dutch driving licence. The exchange should be arranged through the local Municipal Authorities. The validity of your driving licence depends on when you arrived in the Netherlands and registered in the Dutch population register (BRP).
For those registering as of 1 January 2021 a health declaration from the Central Office for Motor Vehicle Driver Testing (CBR) or a 30% ruling grant should be submitted to exchange your driving licence.
If our assistance is required with your 30% ruling application, which will simplify the exchanging of your driving licence, please do not hesitate to contact Limes International.
Find out more information on British driving licences in the Netherlands on the Dutch Government's website.
If you are registered with the Leiden Gemeente, you can organise the exchange of your licence through their website here.
